Fall Finds #3 2023

The best surprise from visiting my old friend came after some research! I picked up a bottle embossed Clark's Domestic Cleansing Fluid because it looked older and neat. I was amazed to discover that it was a RI bottle! What a nice surprise.

Back at the dump a clear 5-3/4 J.R. Lorah & Co. Newport was added to the family. I must be nearing all the sizes now!

An antique shop produced an Edwards Drugs Pascoag, RI. I thought I had one, but at 3-1/2” it was a new size!

The next dump dig turned up a 5-3/4” J.R. Lorah & Co. Newport in amber! At this rate there may be one amber version for every clear size!

After a lull in antique shops, I found another nice medicine! This W.C. Fuller Druggist Providence, RI was unlisted.

Fall Finds #2 2023

Another Enoch W. Vars Niantic, RI joined the family! This was an older aqua version that I've only seen in clear before.

I must be close to finding all of the C.E. Nichols & Co. Extracts Providence, RI bottles. Here's the newest version!

Back at the dump I found a Geo. A. Wood Chemist Newport, RI in an unlisted 3-1/2” size.

I also found a Wright & Hay Pharmacists Newport, RI in a new 5-3/4” size.

Another damaged Alexander & Co. Kinsleys Wharf Newport, RI variant surfaced as well. Why are these rare sodas so beat up?

Fall Finds #2 2023

A second visit to my old friend yielded a big surprise, a W.R. Greene's Citrate Magnesia! Yup, a brand new RI citrate! These are quite rare, and the early aqua ones are even harder to find.

I added a new 4-1/2” size of the Barbour's Pharmacy Westerly, RI to the collection. That size turned out to be unlisted!

I completed my run of the Geo. L. Claflin & Co. Wholesale Druggists Providence variants! (Two sizes each in clear and aqua) This clear one was unlisted.

I've seen a lot of Enoch W. Vars Pharmacist Niantic, RI over the years, but this smaller 3-1/2” size was a new one!

A damaged J. Alexander & Co. Bottlers Newport, RI crown turned out to be a new variant. Let's hope there's an intact one out there!

Fall Finds #1 2023

I just traded a very rare fruit jar I dug for a whole family of Perry fruit jars! I had a couple, but there were two new examples for me. The first was a Patented Aug. 8th 1882 aqua 5-1/2” half pint.

The second was a clear 7” size Perry jar. It doesn't have the matching lid, but is definitely the correct jar!

Just when I though the mega-dump had given up most of its secrets, it drops another bomb on me! This time it was a 3-1/2” J.R. Lorah & Co. Newport in cobalt again! I was completely shocked, and thrilled at the same time. That makes a trio!

I met up with an old friend of mine who was selling some of her collection. I thought most of her bottles were dug, but a bunch were bought too! Among them was the elusive Dana's Old English Cough Balsam (a Pawtucket, RI bottle). It was exciting to finally get one, now for the other variant!

Another great find was a rectangular E.H. Burdick & Co. Druggists Westerly, RI pharmacy. These are tough to find and this was a new version!

Summer Finds #4 2023

A Maine bottle collector/dealer dropped off two nice blobs for me. The first was a new variant Geo. Kilz Co. Providence, RI.

The second was a Union Bottling Co. Arthur Ave. Providence, RI blob.

Digging in a new spot yielded a mega-crier, a B.P. Clapp Ammonia Co. Pawtucket, RI. It was intact enough to save and document, but I really hope there's an undamaged version of this beefy bottle out there!

Another surprise crier was a small size Bernard Conaty Co. Inc. Providence, RI crown top. I've only seen the 12oz versions.

A friend picked up a Joseph Demers Pawtucket, RI pint flask and offered it to me. It is my second size of this rare flask, and that leave just the quart!
